White Sapote July update. I had a complete disaster last month but things are improving thankfully
Переглядів 7213 годин тому
After repotting earlier in June I had a complete unexplained disaster with this plants as the leaves rapidly turned yellow and dropped off so I ended up with a bare stick. Thankfully we’ve turned the corner now and new growth is bursting out everywhere 👍 #whitesapotegrowinguk #casimiroaedulisgrowinguk

    Wow that Salak palm has done really well Brett. I grew one a few years ago and didn't realise it was going to be a palm. A friend brought a fruit back from Malaysia. So I got one seed germinated, it grew for a few months but i neglected it and it soon dried up.

      Of course I don't consider it similar to a strelitzia in appearance although they are both exotic looking, it's simply because it's also often given the common name bird of paradise flower lol. That's the conundrum of common names, they are confusing and not reliable lol

    It’s great to see your White Sapote recover so well, Brett .. I totally get how disappointed you must have felt to see it defoliate after an up-pot. Fortunately, these are amazing plants with an incredible ability to bounce back. All those new shoots your plant is pushing is very encouraging.

    Oh wow, sorry to see it like that, Brett. I know you mentioned it, but I didn't realise how bad it was 😱. It is very encouraging to see all those new shoots starting to push though! I've also had a bit of a disaster with one of my seedling white sapotes, either a slug or a snail has eaten it alive in the greenhouse 🙄. Gastropods love. White Sapote leaves. I’ve brought my seedlings indoor to recover after those little blighters stripped them naked. I think the only way to protect them is to keep them high up , off the ground so they’re unable to reach them.

      Lol yes I wasn’t exaggerating when I said it had gone hideously downhill within a week of repotting. I was flabbergasted as every leaf turned yellow and fell off 😂. I saw Durian fruit in a supermarket in China. It's extremely smelly and eating it on public transport or in hotel rooms is usually banned because the smell lingers for days. It has four inside segments and the edible core has a texture of custard. I think it's a fruit that you either love or hate, there is no in-between. The (calcium & potassium) Phosphates in combination with the Copper before bud break & after fruit set, will dramatically increases quality by restoring balance. Balance is what's important. Else stem cells are not healthy!!! Copper in conjunction with Magnesium & the 8 organic acids of the Krebs & Calvin cycles, along with NAD, NADH, NADH+ & ATP, control DNA methylation & histone acetylation of epigenetic modifications of the DNA strands, controlling DNA stability & gene expression. As well as when DNA gets rebooted back to original programming. Director Dr David Sinclair of Harvard University Genetic Aging has determined that NAD being turned into NADH+, is the most important factor at rebooting DNA 🧬 back to original programming & thus reversing aging. Periodic fasting & temporary exposure to extreme heat or cold or fast heart rate, all seem to play a role at triggering DNA 🧬 reboot, as long as NADH+ levels are high, at the time of the stress stimulus. This applies to all life, microbes, plants, insects, mammals, birds, amphibia, etc. Maybe talk to your doctor about Dr David Sinclair & his research? Hugs from Gaia, be blessed.*

Nickel turns all Nitrogen into Urea so not available for making protein from the Carboxylic acid & Ammonium. Eugenia uniflora does just fine in Phoenix at 118F with UV14, as long as it has water. It's very heat & sun tolerant, just not drought or Magnesium tolerant. Sunlight is a catalyst for many of Magnesium's enzyme reactions. Purple on the underside of the leaf is an indication that Zinc is probably too high in relationship to (Phosphate & Copper), resulting in what looks to me to be too Zinc Finger Protein pigments & flavonoid "Oenin". Haha didn’t think you’d be able to squeeze watching it into your lunch break 😉. Yes the subtropicals in ground are coming back but I fear the same setbacks will occur every Winter. I’m likely to get July fruit drop on some of the trees but it will be very weather dependent 🤞

    I absolutely love this. It shows that you really never know what will happen.... like, in my sphere, if you mention graviola, mangosteen, cacao or rambutan, everyone will tell you, don't bother, waste of time! Yet, I found a woman in Paphos who has all of that growing outside, in the ground, at her place... she even hand pollinated the graviola flowers and had fruits. This year her cacao are flowering and it wont be long before she gets rambutan too as that tree is over 5 meters tall....

    • @lyonheart84
      @lyonheart84 2 дні тому

      I must admit I’d also have said mangosteen, cacao, rambutan, durian etc would be impossible outside anywhere in Europe, too cold and not humid enough, so I guess if you don’t try, you don’t find out. To be fair I don’t expect a durian seedling to survive for long as they really need high humidity 😁

      @@lyonheart84 apparently, she grew them in a greenhouse until they reach "proper size" and when planted outside she covered them accordingly... this staged transition was the key to her success. I hope she'll allow me to film them, haven't asked yet. Pretty cool to see the Geffner with the flowerbuds. Hopefully it sets fruit. The first time i've seen an adult meelybug on the move. Usually I just see their white cotton-like 'stuff' hidden on the underside of leaves or in the crevices of branches. It was moving a lot faster than I expected..

    *Ruby Tangos (Clemenules Mandarin x Blood Orange) is more flavorful & sweet. Ripens early mid-season, rather than late mid-season like Sanguinelli. Skin peels a lot easier! It was developed in Italy, yet most tree propagation is in California. They have more tangy berry flavor than Sanguinelli. Interior easily separates into 12 segments like a Mandarin. it's about 50% bigger than a Mandarin but smaller than Sanguinelli, yet lots more fruits. Finding a nursery certified Huanglongbing (HLB) Free aka greening disease will be the biggest obstacle in acquiring a tree. Maybe propagated near you? An awesome choice!*

    *My deepest apologies that I didn't think of this before: Copper plays an import role in mitochondria in photosynthesis system 2 to split water molecules for positively charged Hydrogen to turn (NADP into NADPH & NADPH+) which are needed to recharge enzymes, make Terpenoids, make ATP. While UK has an avg of 30ppm in the soil & only 1ppm is needed, I just found out most of UK copper is insoluble. The cool damp environment produces alcohols in the soil which tend to act as a catalyst to precipitate copper. Organic material is often low in copper. It's near impossible to visually recognize for leaves a copper deficiency. And plants low in copper often tend to grow faster than normal. However, pollen acceptance tends to be low & female blossoms drop, fruits are low in aromas, insect & disease is more common, early (fruit & seed) development is slow, young leaves have less aroma.*
